State Secretary - Ministry of Health and Social Affairs of Sweden
Dr Maja Fjaestad has been the State Secretary at the Ministry for Health and Social Affairs since January 2019. Between 2018 – 2019 she was State Secretary to the Minister for Children, the Elderly and Gender Equality, Lena Hallengren. In 2016–2018 she served as Head of Social Policy in the Swedish Municipal Workers’ Union and she was previously (2014–2016) State Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office. From 2010–2014 she worked as a researcher in the Division of History of Science, Technology and Environment at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, where she was awarded a PhD in technology in 2010. Dr Fjaestad was a visiting doctoral student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s program on Science, Technology and Society in 2002. She has been a force in implementing digitalization in the healthcare sector in Sweden.
