Director and Founder - Stanford Changelabs
Banny is the Director of Global ChangeLabs which helps institutions and corporations apply system innovation methodology towards complex and scaled resilience challenges. After being a core part of the Design Thinking movement at IDEO, he joined Stanford University as Director of the Stanford Design Program. He subsequently founded Stanford ChangeLabs, a trans-disciplinary platform to advance a new category of innovation methodologies aimed at system level transformation. His work at Stanford has led to the development of the System Acupuncture® methodology, the Systems Leadership framework, impact driven organizational and platform design, and the development of academic curricula that incorporate systems based innovation as a cross cutting capacity across disciplines.
The trans-disciplinary nature of his work, which combines systems theory, design thinking, platform design, business model innovation, applied social psychology, behavioral economics, diffusion theory, and resilience theory is leading to the formation of a new type of innovation: “Innovation of Scaled Transformations." He has been working with corporations, governments, as well as global institutions such as the World Economic Forum, and the United Nations to create the capacities, enabling trans-sector partnerships, and the co-creation of intervention pathways for critical issues related to the future of food, oceans, biodiversity, energy, cities, climate, and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
